Batchmaster ERP Right for Canadian Aerospace Primer Manufacturer

Tempo Aerospace Inc. of Toronto, a member of the AllColour Coatings Group in Oakville, Ontario Canada, is a manufacturer of high quality aircraft and transportation polyurethane and epoxy topcoats and primers. With its emphasis on outstanding customer service, the company has been able to meet demands for a number of new specialized coatings. While this has given Tempo an opportunity for rapid growth, it has made clear a need for more sampling of new formulations and for tighter control of inventories of existing and new raw materials and intermediates. The companys legacy formulation system was not designed to support Tempos variety of formulations and the rapid increase of raw material inventories and suppliers. Rather than upgrade the legacy system, Tempo began a search for a commercial manufacturing software system with a full feature set and the ability to grow with Tempos business.
Harry Tappen, Tempo Aerospaces Plant Manager, led an evaluation team in assessing commercial ERP solutions to determine which was most appropriate to their requirements, based upon out of the box features and the flexibility to be tailored to Tempos specific requirements. After an exhaustive search, Mr. Tappen and his team concluded that BatchMaster ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software provided the following advantages:
Met or exceeded needs for batch tickets, inventory control, lot tracking, QA testing, formulating features
Geared toward the paint industry BatchMaster consulting staff understood Tempos requirements better than the others
Reasonable total cost of ownership (initial investment and ongoing maintenance/support)
Wide selection of standard reports supporting timely communication and decision making
Ability to develop custom reports (in house or through BatchMasters support center)
Mr. Tappen noted, We are starting out using batch tickets, purchasing (materials and supplies), raw material and intermediate inventory control, QC testing and formulating modules. We are definitely going to expand our use of BatchMaster to include sales orders, finished goods inventory, finished goods picking and shipping modules. The system is dependable and has been working up to our expectations; the technical support group is responsive and has done an excellent job in answering our questions about the numerous features available.
