Historic Deerfield's many attractions can be viewed via both guided and self-guided tours Deerfield's heart is the mile-long thoroughfare simply called The Street. The Museum is centered on 12 houses dating to the 18th and 19th centuries and 3 exhibition galleries within the Flynt Center of Early New England Life. The town is always abuzz with programs, special events, group tours and village walking tours every season of the year.

Historic Deerfield's mission is to preserve and interpret the architecture, artifacts and daily life of a prosperous early New England town. The homes and artifacts in Deerfield are among the best and most comprehensively preserved historical buildings in the United States.

Historic Deerfield was incorporated in 1952. The meticulous preservation of the town is in large part the work of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Flynt, of Greenwich, Connecticut. The museum houses, built between 1730 and 1850, and the Flynt Center of Early New England Life, which displays over 25,000 objects made or used in America between 1650 and 1850, are testaments to the Flynt's generosity and dedication.
