What's the Big Deal About Cooking Light?
Author: ZantozzModern food (especially modern American Food) is usually not the most healthy for our bodies. As a modern society, advertising and convenience has convinced us that eating anything wed like is O.K.
While in moderation they can be acceptable, Americans have taken eating to an extreme art form that rivals anything else in known history. American obesity is at an all time high, and obesity in our kids has ballooned to an epidemic proportion.
I was one of those obese Americans. While not grossly overweight, I did represent the vast majority of Americans that probably need to drop about 10 to 15 pounds to achieve a healthy level. As a result, my blood pressure was high as well as my cholesterol. However, also like most Americans, I decided to change that. Not only for myself, but for my wife and family.
For the vast majority of my life, I had the impression that eating healthy had to come at the expense of a variety of things that I enjoyed about food. Most of which was the taste and presentation of the food I ate. Secondly, as part of this modern globalized world, the attraction of grabbing something to eat on the way home was practically a weekly if not every other day ritual. Sometimes this was due to necessity, but most of the time it was out of laziness.
I am on a journey. A journey to prove myself incorrect about how eating healthy can be inexpensive, just as convenient as fast food, and have as worthy if not better taste than foods I had enjoyed previously.
Heres to cooking for your health!
